When I was a little girl we would spend summers in the Hamptons with my grandparents. It was a sacred time for family, fun, and relaxation. We spent every sunny day on the beach. On rainy days we went to the library. Each summer the library had a Hamptons scavenger hunt; things to find around town to keep us busy. Things like a four leaf clover, a thrift store National Geographic at least 10 years old, a pink seashell, and always a beach plum. Lining the dunes, beach plums were our bright beautiful greeters before sticking our toes in the hot sand each day. This laid-back summer shrub hand drawn into a casual damask print seemed like the perfect salute to summer.
